Tilda Lemon Tree Blog Hop: QST Mini Quilt

These are the adorable, fresh Tilda fabrics I was sent.  I’m totally swooning over those 60’s style florals!  You can read more  here about Tilda’s inspiration behind these prints.

As you can see, I’m the last ‘stop on the hop’ and this is what I made:

Tilda Lemon Tree Blog Hop: QST Mini Quilt

The 6 fat quarters have made this cutesy quilt, measuring at 35″ x 53″.

I wanted to stretch the fabrics out as far as they would go, so I kept the piecing to a minimum.  Here’s what I did:

  • trimmed the fat quarters to 18.5″ square
  • paired them to make double sets of half square triangles (HSTs)
  • paired them again to make double sets of quarter square triangles (QSTs)
  • sewed the QSTs together, free motion quilted it and bound it.

I used more Tilda (from other collections) for the backing and binding.

Isn’t it clever how the QSTs technique distributes all the fabrics evenly throughout the quilt!

And if you’d like to have a go at making your own QSTs and HSTs, check out my tutorial here.

This little quilt is now the perfect addition to my recycled church pew!

I hope you’ve enjoyed seeing what I’ve made in this blog hop.

And I also hope we have inspired you to try something new using these delicious fabrics!

Happy sewing!

A few of my Tilda projects

I am never disappointed when they bring out new collections each year.  And their Spring ’18 collection is no exception!

This is ‘Lemon Tree’ and oh how my hearts skips a beat!  Some of these delicious fabrics are calling loud and clear to my inner hippy – come out! come out!
