A very good friend of mine had a 'special' birthday this month, and last night I got to hand over the quilt I had made for her.
This is a strip pieced quilt, made in Amy Butler fabrics (mostly Soul Blossoms).
I love this type of piecing, and it's a great pattern for using up leftover binding and Jelly Roll strips too! (see the free tutorial for my scrappy version here).
A friend of mine long arm quilted it. I always think that when a quilt is quilted, that's when the fabrics just seem to come to life!
The backing is Tilda, and the navy and white stripe binding is from a collection called England Swings (my birthday friend is English!).
I love how bright and cheery this quilt is, and it totally reflects my lovely friend's bright and cheery personality!
I'm happy to report that she loved it! Yay!
Happy sewing!
This is fabulous, I recognise some of the fabrics as I made some cushions with Amy Butler fabric a while back. Your friend is a lucky lady. x
Thanks K! This is the collection that keeps on giving! I've made so many things with it and I still have some left!! xo
Just beautiful.
Thanks M! Jxo
Fab quilt for a great friend's birthday!
Thank you! I never tire of Soul Blossoms! xo
