It's our final week of my Instagram Designers Collaboration and we are making Stuart's Japanese Rice Bag.
Stuart has a YoutTube channel with lots of well explained and easy to make projects.
The project he chose for us to make is his sweet Japanese Rice Bag, and is one of his free tutorials.
In his video Stuart uses 7.5" squares for the bag, but approves of these sizes being varied to suit.
So I decided to make a smaller bag (using 5" cut squares) to accompany a birthday gift I've been working on for a special little someone (more on that later!).
I used some Stoff Linen with Tilda to make a child-size bag, with cute applique hearts and mini pom-pom trim!
This is a super easy and well demonstrated tutorial by Stuart, and I had this wee bag run up in an afternoon!
I can't wait to see what the other designers make with this tutorial. You can check them out on Instagram by searching #justjudecollaborates
And who is this little bag for?
A very special 5 year old who can already read and knew exactly whose name was on the birthday bunting I made for her.
The background fabric here is the same Stoff Linen in the rice bag and I used Tilda scraps in raspberry reds and teals to make up the satin stitched letters.
I created the letters in Microsoft Word, enlarged to the right size and traced from the 'wrong' side of the printout onto bondaweb.
I was so pleased I had just the right amount of mini pompom trim leftover from the bunting to accessorise the Rice Bag!
I'm so pleased the birthday girl loved her pressies, which made me feel a little better for being late with the gifts in the first place! My bad!
